Fernandina Sunset

Pastel, 9″ x 12″

I’m so enjoying painting with pastels.

This scene can be anywhere,

but for the sake of a title,

I named it Fernandina Sunset.

End of day has a certain

beautiful melancholy to it.

Oil, 18″ x 24″

This angel painting was inspired by this past

Holy Week.

I wanted to create something beautiful,

something different,

something meaningful.

Coastal Sunset

Pastel, 9″x12″

The sunset is lighting up the ocean water and foam of the waves.

At such times there is a translucent quality in part of the roiling wave

which I somehow was able to capture. Luck!

I think my love of nature at a beach comes through in this piece.

I want to be there now.

Mom’s Eyeglasses

Pastel, 6″x8″

This still life of eyeglasses represents

a challenging pastel exercise:

count your strokes and finger smudges, keeping

the number to 100 or fewer.

The purpose of the exercise is to spend more time

observing than painting,

in order to make each stroke of the paste count

and be the right, correct stroke the first time.

No erasures or corrections allowed!

Beach Walk 7

and incoming waves, giving the beachcomber

utter delight.

Sail Away

Pastel, approximately 9″ x 12″

Dramatic skies provide the tone for this seascape.

I hope the viewer feels the breeze and loves the reflections at sunset.

Red and Green

24″ x 30″ x 1.5″ Oil

This larger-than-life painting of a red rose

is ready to hang. The 1.5″ sides are painted

the same green as the background.

A focal point for any room.

Abstract 21

16″ x 20″ x1.25″ Oil

This colorful abstract oil painting can be hung at any rotation,

but this is my favorite.

It was exciting watching this image emerge

with no preplanned design.

I think it’s happy!

Ode to Chagall

12″ x 16″ Oil

I painted this with pure pigment oil

which gives those vibrant and lush colors.

I’m trying to be brave and explore

experimental images

and abstract styles.

It’s frightening and exhilarating.
