Ponte Vedra

4″ x 10″ Watercolor, $75 + shipping

Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, is another

gorgeous and favorite beach. I have

quite the collection of sharks’ teeth that

I’ve found there over the years.

As for the painting,

I intentionally wanted to keep this

beachscape simple and on the abstract side.

I like the viewer to participate in the artwork.

5″ x 7″ Watercolor, $75

Painting with watercolor on Yupo paper

was a brand new experience for me.

I had the good fortune to spend a month

in Fernandina Beach, FL, this past September.

I took watercolors on this trip since

they’re easier to transport than oils,

I wanted to explore watercolor techniques.

9″ x 12″ Oil, $200

Inspired by a photo taken by Grant Ferguson in Montana,

this painting came together thoughtfully, stroke by stroke.

I’m pleased with the abstract/representational tension,

as well as the feeling of mist.

This could be anywhere, so I titled it, “Somewhere.”

7:16:15 Beach COCO? 18:24

18″ x 24″, Oil, $800

As you know, I could paint the ocean and the beach everyday,

and not get tired of the subject.

Especially when it’s 108 degrees outside as it is now, here in the desert.

As I prepare for my new position as Art Teacher for grades K-2 and 6-8

I haven’t had as much time to paint.

But this is my latest, and I’m pretty happy with it.

I can almost feel the powdery sand all over my feet,

and almost hear the comforting sound of the surf.

Abstract 16

6″ x 8″ Oil, $175

One of my favorite paintings,

this abstract seascape captures the “feel”

of the sea or an intracoastal waterway.

It contains my favorite colors,

and I was pleased with the texture as well.

Mighty Waves

16″ x 20″ Oil $600

This painting went through many stages and layers until

I felt it was finished.

The last layers were done with pure pigment

which gives rich, vibrant color

and lots of texture.

Someday I hope to live at the beach in Florida,

which would bring me full circle back home.
