Original Contemporary Artwork

100+ degree weather makes me yearn for tropical climes all the more.
Can’t think of a more ideal place than Hawaii.
This painting started as a monoprint,
painting with brush and palette knife followed,
and it just looked like Hawaii when I finished it.
I want to jump into the surf right about now.

This contemporary painting of a musical instrument, specifically
has painted 2″ sides and is ready to hang as is.
I used several layers of paint during the creation of this one,
often thinking of the layers of stain and varnish that a luthier applies
when making his or her instruments.

In between working on various commissions,
I’m playing with acrylic paints and the endless possibilities
of mediums such as gels and pastes,
heavy body acrylic, fluid acrylic, and high flow acrylic.
