Amelia Island

24″ x 30″ Oil

In the midst of packing to move to a different house,

painting a serene and quiet view of the Florida coast

provides a respite.

I’m looking forward to my annual stay in Amelia later this year.

In the meantime, I’ll paint from memory and photos.

If interested in purchasing this painting,

please let me know.

I want this one to have a good home!

Afternoon Delight

4″ x 10″ Watercolor

$75 + shipping

Now that I’m back in the Valley of the Sun

these beach images seem dream-like.

Working on 300 lb. watercolor paper,

my objective was to paint JUST enough, i.e.,

the right strokes,  the right shapes,

the right ratio of water to pigment.

And find a pleasing composition and “feel.”

This one hit it for me.

Florida Sand Dunes, Abstract Seascape

24″ x 30,” Mixed Media, $700

Day 16 of CHALLENGE 30/30

30 Paintings in 30 Days

Today I started a figurative painting that I’m really happy with,

but alas, not enough time today to finish it.

So this is my substitute for Day 16,

a mixed media piece I have been slowly completing over the last several months.

Having grown up in Florida, the beach still calls,

and I like the sense of sea oats that the foreground paper brings.

The sand dunes partially hide the water but lead to those waves.

I also like the ambiguity of the sand line/wave feeling.
