Sailor’s Delight

16″ x 20″, Oil, $600

Day 29 of CHALLENGE 30/30

30 Paintings in 30 Days

Mostly painted with pure pigment oil sticks,

with a little traditional oil paint and brush work,

another fun one to bring together.

Lots of layers of paint, so AZ sun will need to bake it dry.

Loving complimentary colors these days.

Coconuts

8″ x 8″, Oil, $125

Day 28 of CHALLENGE 30/30

30 Paintings in 30 Days

Swaying in the ocean breeze, this colorful palm could be dancing.

Light is filtering through at noon, and the coconuts

grab all the attention.

The challenge of painting a new painting every day for 30 days

has been exhilarating, and I’m looking forward to a February challenge.

Painted with juicy pure pigment oil sticks, this little guy is looking for a home.

Day 27 of CHALLENGE 30/30

30 Paintings in 30 Days

Today was a day of struggle with painting and life in general.

But I’m happy with the way this one turned out, and feel that I found a sweet spot

with this particular painting of the ocean.

Breakthrough

8″ x 8″ x 1.5″, Oil, $150
Day 23 of CHALLENGE 30/30
30 Paintings in 30 Days

I really enjoyed exploring the abstract quality of this contemporary
landscape today, experimenting with palette knife and
color harmony.
The 1.5″ sides are painted in same colors, i.e.,
the “field” continues around the sides, as does the sky.

Day 17 of CHALLENGE 30/30

30 Paintings in 30 Days

This challenge has inspired, stretched, and thrilled me.

It IS a challenge to get a new painting produced each day,

but the juices are flowing, and I really don’t want to do much else.

And painting the beach and one of those funny gulls is pure joy.

Florida Sand Dunes, Abstract Seascape

24″ x 30,” Mixed Media, $700

Day 16 of CHALLENGE 30/30

30 Paintings in 30 Days

Today I started a figurative painting that I’m really happy with,

but alas, not enough time today to finish it.

So this is my substitute for Day 16,

a mixed media piece I have been slowly completing over the last several months.

Having grown up in Florida, the beach still calls,

and I like the sense of sea oats that the foreground paper brings.

The sand dunes partially hide the water but lead to those waves.

I also like the ambiguity of the sand line/wave feeling.
