Having experimented with dramatic lighting for the past two weeks,
I painted one that fits the bill for me.
The rich red tulips, the light catching the yellow-green of their stems,
and the touches of red in the background and foreground
work together in a way that pleases me.

Just finished today, this landscape is all about the sunset
and the sky color peeking out from behind the clouds.
I enjoyed bringing this painting together:
the colors and shapes of clouds, the silhouette of the trees,
the depiction of the end of day.

Just finished today. My favorite flowers are peonies.
I started this one by roughly sketching in the main shapes,
painting in the darkest darks and lightest lights,
and then finishing up showing light, shadow,
and color changes.

Clouds over the ocean cast shadows across the beach
making a dramatic statement.

Hiking in the Shadow Mountain area with my daughter,
I spotted this silhouette across the valley
and knew immediately I wanted to paint it.
This wide-sided canvas has painted sides
so is ready to hang or set upon any surface –
bookcase, mantle, sideboard, whatever.
